At the invitation of Dr Gailen Marshall, I am both deeply pleased and privileged to write this article for the "Giants of Allergy-Immunology" series to honor Joseph A. Bellanti, MD, an internationally renowned clinician-investigator, educator, author, mentor, and, above all, "a man for all seasons." When I received the request, I was delighted but also a bit concerned about whether I could do a creditable job of documenting the many accomplishments of this remarkable individual. In addition to being my mentor, counselor, and adviser for more than 50 years, he is and continues to be my friend.
