The medicinal benefits of cannabis have led to the development of synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists, for the palliation of cancer and other conditions.1 Unfortunately, illicit manufacturers have commandeered their production for recreational use. Known colloquially as "spice", or by other pseudonyms, these substances have garnered attention in the media because of their adverse effects.2 The man-made drug is often added to dried herbs or plant matter to mimic the cannabis plant, and can be smoked in a similar way.
