Our cover features the identification and characterization of a bacterial ligand for CD16. Identification of Escherichia coli proteins containing the mimotope obtained by the phage display experiments was carried out using an in-house database of 3D mimotopes of the E. coli proteome. The figure shows the interaction between WzxE (yellow) and CD16 (cyan, surface). Notice the overlap between green, red, and magenta showing that the WzxE peptide occupies the same binding site as IgG. The image is taken from Beppler et al., where the authors present WzxE as a novel ligand for CD16, providing new insights into the pathogenesis of E. coli infections and opening new avenues for the treatment of inflammatory diseases.
