Abstract

Introduction of the World Health Organisation (WHO) surgical safety checklist has resulted in decreased morbidity and mortality

An outpatient clinic safety checklist for the ENT department was introduced based on the WHO surgical safety checklist, detailing the minimum requirements for safely proceeding with the clinic

This checklist resulted in an increase in patient and staff satisfaction of the outpatient experience, and adherence to a minimum safe standard for outpatient clinics

It is intended to extend this across other departments, and across other hospitals in the future.
